Before present

Long before the present
there was a boy named humanity.
He lived in dense vegetation
of Africa and decided to explore the land.
With the little language knew,
On his way to Eurasia
found a collection of words
called dictionary.
To his surprise
there were many sentences
carved out with words
Floating in the white background.
He was stuck at the first page
which read:
1. Famine (noun)
     Absence of empathy and
compassion in large groups of people for a long time.
2. Pandemic (noun)
Lack of love which spreads all over.
3.  Politics (noun)
Ideas of people who only want to rule the world rendering it helpless.

He wondered for a while
and threw it away,
Climbed a beautiful tree
sat on the highest branch
Looking at the peaceful world.
And thought, “I’ll teach them all”

What do we tell him?
To stop day dreaming?
or to start searching
for the dictionary?

By Mermaid

Hello there! My name is Kajal. I started blogging on 21 September,2018, it was purely random as I needed a space to pour my heart and thoughts out. This place is my safe space where I let my fingers and feelings run free to curate poems and to rant about things that are bothering my thoughts. My journey here has been bittersweet and wonderful at the same time. But because of all the love I received here, I keep coming back to read and write. You all have been great support and advicers to me and I'm really greatful. Your feedback, emails and comments keep the mermaid inside me going :)
